Zamioculcas 'Chameleon' — Chameleon ZZ Plant, Live Plant

$29.99

ZZ Chameleon is a striking cultivar of the classic ZZ plant, discovered as a spontaneous mutation and named for its genuinely unique color-shifting foliage. New leaves emerge in bright golden-yellow, then gradually transition through a variegated yellow-and-green phase before settling into the deep, glossy green typical of standard ZZ plants — meaning a single healthy plant often displays gold, variegated, and green leaves simultaneously.

Like every ZZ variety, Chameleon is built for durability. Its thick, potato-like rhizomes store water efficiently, allowing it to tolerate weeks of neglect and low-light conditions without complaint. That said, brighter indirect light encourages more frequent flushes of the signature golden new growth — the whole point of growing this variety in the first place.

Slow-growing but eventually substantial, Chameleon can reach 4 feet or more over time, making it a striking long-term floor or shelf specimen as it matures.

Care notes:

  • Light: Tolerates low light but performs best — and produces more golden new growth — in medium to bright indirect light. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch new leaves.
  • Water: Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings; water when roughly half the soil has dried. When in doubt, wait longer.
  • Humidity: No special humidity requirements — thrives in average home conditions
  • Soil: Well-draining mix; a cactus or succulent blend works well to prevent moisture sitting around the rhizomes

Safety note: Toxic if ingested; sap may irritate sensitive skin. Keep away from pets and children.

Size: Shipped in a 4" container.
